Dubai World Trade Centre Announces Comprehensive Plans For GITEX Global 2024 Operations

The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) has finalised preparations for GITEX Global 2024, the largest tech and startup event globally. Scheduled from October 14 to 18 at DWTC and October 13 to 16 at Dubai Harbour, the event promises a seamless experience for exhibitors and visitors. Collaborating with the Dubai Events Security Committee, Dubai Police, and Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), DWTC aims to ensure smooth operations and security throughout the city.

Major General Abdulla Ali Al Ghaithi of Dubai Police highlighted the comprehensive preparations made by government and private entities. "The team will work to ensure the exhibition reflects the esteemed status of the emirate of Dubai in organising and hosting the most prestigious international events," he stated. He urged drivers to adhere to traffic guidelines, use alternative routes, and stay informed through social media updates.

Dubai's Plans for GITEX Global 2024 Revealed

Hussain Al Banna from RTA detailed plans for managing traffic flow during GITEX Global. Thousands of parking spaces will be available at DWTC and other locations like Al Wasl Club and Dubai Mall. Shuttle buses will transport visitors between these sites. Traffic lights will be adjusted based on density, with smart signage directing attendees to public transport options when necessary.

Al Banna confirmed that metro services will operate as usual, with reduced waiting times if needed. A dedicated taxi area near DWTC can accommodate 300 vehicles. Shuttle buses will connect DWTC Metro Station with Max Station and various parking areas, ensuring efficient visitor movement.

In recent meetings, DWTC and the Dubai Event Security Committee discussed logistical measures for handling large crowds. Enhanced security protocols are in place to manage tens of thousands of local and international participants expected at this flagship event. Special focus is on parking solutions, visitor flow, and public transport accessibility.

Abdulrahman Obaid Abu Al Shawareb from DWTC emphasised high-level readiness due to the scale of GITEX Global. "Our collaboration with the Events Security Committee, Dubai Police, and RTA is vital to delivering a seamless experience," he said. He encouraged attendees to use public transport options available through the GITEX mobile app.

Additional Facilities at Dubai Harbour

Dubai Harbour will also host tens of thousands of visitors during GITEX Global 2024. Al Banna confirmed ample parking spaces for private vehicles at this venue too. Shuttle buses will transport attendees from Palm Jumeirah’s multi-storey car park and Nakheel Metro Station. Marine transport services are available from Skydive parking to the event site.

Traffic lights on King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street will be monitored closely during peak hours. Shuttle buses will facilitate movement between Dubai Harbour and DWTC, ensuring smooth transit for all visitors attending both locations.

This year's GITEX Global aims to showcase Dubai's capability in hosting world-class events while prioritising safety, efficiency, and sustainability through meticulous planning by all involved stakeholders.
