Dubai Future District Fund’s Annual Review Highlights Strong Alignment With D33 Agenda For Economic Development

The Dubai Future District Fund (DFDF) Oversight Committee recently held its annual review, highlighting progress towards Dubai's economic ambitions. The committee evaluated DFDF’s 29 investments in both Fund of Funds and Direct Investments. These efforts are supported by the Dubai Future Foundation and DIFC, aligning with Dubai’s mission to become a global hub for technology and innovation.

Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, chaired the meeting. Other attendees included Essa Kazim, Governor of DIFC; Khalfan Juma Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation; Arif Amiri, CEO of DIFC Authority; Jacques Visser, Chief Legal Officer of DIFC Authority; and Nader Al Bastaki, Managing Director of DFDF.

The D33 Agenda outlines Dubai's goal to lead the digital economy by attracting innovative start-ups and nurturing local tech talent. DFDF’s objectives align with these goals by fostering an ecosystem where venture capital firms and government support drive economic growth and sustainable innovation.

Essa Kazim stated, "Our vision for the Dubai Future District Fund is enhancing Dubai's position as a premier global financial and innovation centre while empowering venture capitalists and startups to significantly boost their contributions to the economy. DFDF supports various initiatives like the Dubai Sandboxes Initiative, which aims to reduce regulatory barriers by connecting regulators with innovators. Another initiative is The Dubai Research, Development, and Innovation Programme that provides a framework for research and development in key economic sectors.

Khalfan Belhoul commented on DFDF’s role: "DFDF plays a strategic role in fostering a vibrant venture ecosystem that accelerates innovation in Dubai.
