Dubai Free Zones Leverage Technology For Economic Growth And Investment Security

The Dubai Free Zones Council, led by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Free Zones (DFZ) Council, emphasised Dubai's commitment to a dynamic and sustainable economic model. This model aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

The council highlighted that this economic model enhances the role of Dubai’s free zones in diversifying the economy, creating opportunities, and attracting foreign direct investment. They aim to leverage technological advancements to double the size of Dubai’s economy over the next decade, positioning it among the world’s top three economic cities.

Tech Boosts Dubai Zone Investments

One strategic goal under the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 is to double foreign direct investment to AED650 billion by 2033. The council discussed the Free Zones 2030 model being developed to support this objective by adding socio-economic value and encouraging international companies to establish and expand their operations in Dubai’s free zones.

The council was briefed on a new system for approvals in Dubai’s free zones designed to accelerate the issuance process. This system aims to meet future work requirements efficiently. Additionally, they presented an enhanced Business Gateway Portal that simplifies the investor's journey in exploring business opportunities within free zones.

The council also reviewed its official website's role in highlighting strategic initiatives and events. This platform aims to facilitate communication and provide essential information about Dubai’s free zones.

Unified Free Zone Passport

A new version of the Unified Free Zone Passport was discussed, offering investors flexible procedures to expand their businesses across different free zones in Dubai. This initiative aims to simplify business operations among free zone authorities and meet economic accelerator requirements.

Empowering UAE Nationals

The council stressed the importance of empowering UAE nationals by enhancing their presence in private sector roles within free zones. Companies are encouraged to attract qualified Emirati talent and provide training opportunities across various disciplines. This initiative supports Emiratisation targets and promotes comprehensive economic and social development.

Data Flow and Economic Crimes Protection

A report from the Dubai Data and Statistics Establishment showed a significant increase in foreign direct investment in Dubai’s free zones. The council underlined the importance of smooth economic data flow through an accessible dashboard for stakeholders.

The Operations Center of Economic Crimes presented developments in collaboration mechanisms aimed at exchanging best practices. These efforts ensure client fund protection at free zone-based companies, enhancing the reputation of economic, trade, and banking sectors.

This meeting underscores Dubai's ongoing efforts to create a robust economic environment through innovative strategies and inclusive growth initiatives.
