Dubai Esports & Games Festival 2024 Unveils Action-Packed Events Schedule

The Dubai Esports & Games Festival (DEF 2024) is set to captivate gaming enthusiasts worldwide with its announcement of an action-packed schedule running from 19th April to 5th May. Organized by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), the festival enters its third edition, aiming to deliver the largest celebration of gaming and esports witnessed so far. The event's pinnacle, the GameExpo, will unfold from 3 to 5 May at the Dubai World Trade Centre, inviting visitors to dive into continuous gaming action, explore the newest games, enjoy exciting tournaments, and engage with industry giants.

The festival's diverse offerings include The Narrows, a showcase of gaming pop culture; Electric Avenue and Gaming District, where the latest gaming gear and releases will be on display; and the GameExpo Summit on 1st and 2nd May, a ticketed event powered by Pocket Gamer Connects that will bring together industry professionals for insightful talks, panels, and seminars. Additionally, the Dubai Cosplay Championship on 4th May will spotlight cosplayers in a competition of creativity and performance. Competitive gaming fans can look forward to Play Beyond on 4th and 5th May, featuring live showdowns between two teams of four gaming stars.

Amid the Holy Month of Ramadan, the festival will host the GameCentric Ramadan League, offering online tournaments with prizes up to AED20,000, and the UAE PC café Master Cup 2024 with a total prize pool of AED15,000 across eight city cafes. Educational initiatives are also a significant focus; the Microsoft MakeCode Competition and Minecraft Education Challenge will enable students to demonstrate their digital prowess. Additional educational opportunities include talks by industry experts, in-school tournaments, and DEF Gamers Day.

On 25th April, the Google Gaming Day will take place at the American University in Dubai. This free educational session will be led by government figures, industry leaders, and Google gaming experts. The DEF Education Programme extends free participation to all registered schools and universities.
