Dubai Energy Authority Intensifies Inspections In Diesel Sector For Compliance And Safety

The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE) has ramped up its inspection efforts in the gas oil (diesel) sector. This move aims to regulate trading and eliminate illegal activities that threaten safety and the environment. The permanent joint field inspection team, established under DSCE Resolution number (1) of 2022, has begun field inspections and monitoring operations.

The inspection team collaborates with various entities, including the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Municipality, Directorate-General of Dubai Civil Defence, Department of Economy and Tourism, Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC). This cooperation ensures comprehensive oversight across all aspects of diesel trading.

Dubai Boosts Diesel Sector Checks

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of DSCE, emphasised that these efforts align with the directives of the wise leadership. He stated, "DSCE regulates business practices and implements the highest international standards in safety and security." This ensures that diesel is traded, transported, stored, and distributed according to UAE specifications.

Al Tayer highlighted the importance of these campaigns in maintaining a fair trading environment. He said, "Ensuring compliance with approved specifications for gas oil (diesel) is one of our top priorities." These inspections aim to protect consumers' rights and support law-abiding suppliers by enforcing strict adherence to standards.

Ahmad Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary-General of DSCE and Chairman of Dubai Regulatory Committee for Petroleum Products, outlined the campaign's objectives. He noted that they target illegal practices such as trading non-compliant petroleum products and distributing diesel in unauthorised locations. These activities pose significant risks to public safety and environmental health.

Combating Illegal Practices

Al Muhairbi explained that the campaigns also address issues like pollution from diesel leaks into soil and groundwater. They ensure diesel storage uses authorised methods and tanks fit for purpose. Additionally, they monitor transportation means to prevent unqualified vehicles from circulating diesel.

Burhan Al Hashemi, Vice Chairman of the Committee, expressed gratitude towards participating government organisations. He said their cooperation is crucial in protecting individuals and society by ensuring compliance with trading practices in the petroleum sector.

Ensuring Highest Standards

The committee aims to apply top security and safety standards across all diesel trading activities. This includes transportation from trading facilities or through distribution tanks. Their goal is to maintain stringent oversight to safeguard public welfare.

The DSCE has also conducted several inspection campaigns within the liquefied petroleum gas sector. These inspections cover transportation, distribution, and storage to ensure adherence to UAE’s approved safety specifications.

This comprehensive approach reflects DSCE’s commitment to creating a sustainable trading environment while prioritising public safety and environmental protection.
