AWQAF Dubai Advances Eco-Friendly Mall Project For Mosque Support

The Endowments and Minors’ Affairs Trust Foundation in Dubai (AWQAF Dubai) has reported that 17 percent of the eco-friendly endowment mall project is complete. This initiative aims to finance mosque affairs in the emirate, aligning with Dubai’s strategy to enhance community solidarity and support charity initiatives.

Located in Al Khawaneej, the mall will cover 165,000 square feet. It will house 29 shops, a large shopping centre, a medical centre, restaurants, a fitness centre, service facilities, roads, garden areas, parking lots, and two prayer rooms for men and women. The construction cost is estimated at AED40 million.

Eco Mall Funds Dubai Mosques

The mall's annual revenue is expected to be AED8 million. These funds will support around 50 mosques in Dubai that lack endowments. The project is part of the ‘Mosques Endowment’ campaign which supports the Dubai Mosques Endowments Fund.

The mall is being constructed using international green building standards. Eco-friendly materials and techniques are being employed to generate, save, and recycle energy. Advanced solutions like solar and renewable energy sources are also being used to improve environmental quality within the mall.

Ali Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of AWQAF Dubai, visited the project site to review progress. He was joined by Khalid Al Thani, Deputy Secretary-General, several division managers from AWQAF Dubai, and project engineers.

Community Involvement and Support

Al Mutawa emphasised that the mall's establishment aligns with Dubai’s plans to expand endowments. He urged government and private entities as well as individuals to contribute to this sustainable endowment project. He noted that this model adds new cultural and social dimensions to endowment work.

Al Mutawa stated that construction is on track for timely completion. He highlighted that adopting green building standards enhances AWQAF’s strategy of creating an innovative endowment sector following best practices.

This initiative represents an innovative model for supporting mosques in the UAE. It consolidates the role of endowments in improving life quality for individuals and society.
