Dubai Duty Free Reports July 2025 Sales Surpassing AED 638 Million Amid Strong Demand
Dubai Duty Free (DDF) achieved remarkable sales in July, reaching AED638.8 million (US$175 million). This figure contributes to year-to-date sales of AED4.734 billion (US$1.30 billion), marking a 5.86% increase compared to the previous year. The July milestone surpasses the previous record set in 2023 by AED36 million (US$9.8 million), placing it among the top ten months in DDF's history.
The growth in sales is particularly impressive given that passenger numbers at Dubai International Airport (DXB) rose by only 2.3% from January to June. Ramesh Cidambi, Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free, stated, "We are delighted to report another strong sales month in what is already proving to be an exceptional year." He attributed this success to the resilience of their retail operations and the demand for premium shopping experiences.

Perfumes, Liquor, Gold, Tobacco, and Confectionery were the top-selling categories in July. Perfume sales increased by 10.3%, while Liquor and Tobacco saw rises of 1.7% and 2.2%, respectively. Gold sales surged by 15.5%, and Confectionery experienced a significant 57% growth compared to last year.
Luxury brands played a crucial role in driving sales growth at DDF's CA and CB Fashion Boutiques, which house prestigious labels like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Cartier. These boutiques saw an 11.36% increase in sales over the same period last year, reflecting sustained demand for high-end fashion items at DXB.
DDF's pre-loved luxury boutique, REKLAIM, launched in December 2024, has gained momentum with its curated selection of authenticated pre-owned watches and handbags from top-tier brands. Located across Concourses A, B, and D, including the Emirates First Class Lounge, REKLAIM generated over AED14.3 million (US$3.9 million) in just seven months.
In July alone, REKLAIM achieved AED1.6 million (US$445K) in sales, highlighting its growing appeal among luxury-focused shoppers. Rolex watches were particularly popular with 176 sold since launch and 16 sold in July alone.
Competitive Landscape
DDF's success comes amidst increasing competition within airport retail and from domestic retailers outside the airport environment. Despite these challenges, DDF continues to invest in product innovation and digital engagement strategies to enhance customer experiences.
Cidambi acknowledged the competitive landscape but expressed confidence due to ongoing investments: "This outstanding achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team." He also credited H.H Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum for his unwavering support.
DDF remains focused on maintaining business momentum through strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing penetration rates while adapting effectively within an uncertain environment.
