Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Celebrates Graduation Of First Cohort From Dubai Disaster Medicine Programme
The first cohort of the Dubai Disaster Medicine Programme celebrated their graduation recently. This event also marked the completion of the Professional Diploma in Healthcare for Emergency and Crisis Management and the Professional Diploma in Public Health. Organised by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), this milestone is a result of collaboration with the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government and the UAE’s National Training Program.
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Health Board of Directors, attended the ceremony. He highlighted that the programme aligns with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision to enhance Dubai's readiness for challenges through improved medical preparedness and rapid crisis response.
Under H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's directives, Dubai's healthcare sector remains committed to maintaining high safety standards for all residents. H.H. Sheikh Mansoor praised Dubai’s advanced healthcare infrastructure, which has significantly improved crisis management capabilities.
The event was graced by Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Director-General of DHA; Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health; and Dr. Ali bin Sebaa Al Marri, Executive President of the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government. Representatives from partner entities like Dubai Police and Dubai Civil Defence were also present.
A total of 1,770 participants engaged in the Dubai Disaster Medicine Programme. Additionally, 78 individuals completed the Professional Diploma in Public Health, while 115 graduated from the Professional Diploma in Emergency and Disaster Healthcare. These graduates are now part of a distinguished group of medical professionals.
Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi expressed gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Mansoor for his support at the ceremony. He emphasised that this programme was launched after receiving accreditation from both the European Centre for Disaster Medicine and the American College of Surgeons.
Enhancing Medical Preparedness
The programme is one of DHA’s pioneering initiatives aimed at boosting healthcare preparedness in Dubai. It strengthens preventive health security systems to tackle potential emergencies effectively while increasing readiness for medical responses during disasters and crises.
Al Ketbi stated, "The programme aims to support Dubai’s resilience index, promote awareness and best practices in disaster and crisis management, and unify training and information sources in disaster medicine."
Developing Skilled Professionals
The DHA seeks to enhance skills among leaders in public and private hospitals through these programmes. They focus on developing expertise among medical professionals specialising in emergency medicine, crisis management, and healthcare response.
This initiative reflects a commitment to ensuring world-class healthcare services that align with international standards while preparing for unforeseen challenges effectively.
