Dubai Department Of Economy And Tourism Highlights Key Initiatives At GITEX Global 2024 And Expand North Star Events
The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) is set to participate in two significant events this month: GITEX Global 2024 from 14-18 October and Expand North Star from 13-16 October. These events will spotlight the innovative services DET offers to simplify business operations and showcase companies using Dubai as a springboard for global expansion.
DET's involvement aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, which aims to double the city's economy by 2033. This initiative seeks to reinforce Dubai's status as a premier global hub for business and leisure. At GITEX Global, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the Dubai Business Registration and Licensing Corporation (DBLC), part of DET, will present advanced solutions to streamline investor processes.

These initiatives are crucial for attracting foreign investment and talent. DBLC will also acknowledge partners who have significantly contributed to its success over the past year. Meanwhile, at Dubai Harbour, the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Dubai SME) will highlight five member businesses.
The participating businesses include Transcend Technologies, Jadwelny Portal, Sadeem Energy, Elmadrasah.com, Insurina, and incubation partner Intelak. These companies represent diverse sectors like AI in tourism, energy IoT, EdTech, insurance marketplaces, and cybersecurity. The Hamdan Innovation Incubator (Hi2), an initiative by Dubai SME, will sponsor the Emaratipreneur Expo 2024.
This expo will promote Emirati startups through panel discussions, competitions, and an awards ceremony for SMEs. Hi2 plans to provide 50 pods for young Emiratis with innovative business ideas. These projects range from prototypes to market-ready ventures with active Emirati partners.
Commitment to Digital Innovation
Ahmad Al Room Almheiri from DBLC stated that their participation at GITEX Global 2024 reflects their dedication to fostering innovation. He said it supports the D33 Agenda's goals of boosting economic productivity through digital adoption across various sectors. "The department will unveil initiatives that will focus on simplifying the investor journey," he noted.
Saeed Matar Mohammed AlMarri of Dubai SME expressed excitement about presenting dynamic Emirati startups at Expand North Star. He emphasised their role in reshaping industries like AI and cybersecurity while supporting the D33 Agenda. "These entrepreneurs represent the future of Dubai’s economy," he added.
Through Hi2's sponsorship of Emaratipreneur Expo, they aim to empower startups globally. This ensures that upcoming Dubai entrepreneurs lead economic growth efforts effectively.
