Dubai Customs Unveils Eight Innovative Initiatives At GITEX Global 2024 To Enhance Trade Processes
Dubai Customs is presenting eight cutting-edge initiatives at the 44th GITEX Global event, which runs from 14th to 18th October 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. These initiatives leverage advanced technologies and artificial intelligence to enhance customs processes. The department aims to demonstrate its digital services that support legitimate trade and align with its vision of being a global leader in customs administration.
The "Seamless Inspections" initiative stands out as a significant effort to speed up customs inspection processes. Another key project, "Al Munasiq," is an app that uses advanced AI to assign accurate Harmonised System (HS) codes for customer goods. Additionally, the "K9 Sustainable Vehicle" aids in customs inspections by enhancing protection against smuggling activities at customs centres.

The "Octa" platform serves as a personal assistant powered by AI, designed to answer customer inquiries related to customs and trade in Dubai. Meanwhile, the "Shahin" project facilitates electronic shipment tracking between Dubai’s ports through an electronic lead seal. Visitors can also engage with a virtual simulation of cargo clearance procedures, offering insights into the customs process.
Dr. Abdulla Mohammed Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs, highlighted their eagerness to participate annually in GITEX. He emphasised that this event provides an opportunity to showcase their innovative digital transformation efforts and the role of advanced technologies in automating customs services. This year's participation aims to present initiatives and projects to the business community and logistics sectors.
Dr. Busenad noted that these initiatives align with Dubai's economic agenda by increasing foreign trade value. He expressed enthusiasm about engaging with experts, specialists, solution providers, and investors worldwide during the event. This includes diplomatic bodies and foreign business councils who will be present at GITEX.
He stated, "GITEX serves as a perfect platform for exchanging insights on how technological shifts can simplify business operations, and it provides an important opportunity to showcase the smart customs procedures and services offered by Dubai Customs to visitors and business owners both locally and internationally."
The participation in GITEX allows Dubai Customs to highlight its commitment to innovation in digital services. By showcasing these projects, they aim to exceed expectations within the business community while enhancing returns on business activities through efficient customs processes.
