Dubai Culture Elevates City's Heritage And Arts At Arabian Travel Market 2024

The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) marked its significant presence at the 31st Arabian Travel Market (ATM), a pivotal event held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 6 to 9 May. This exhibition is key to showcasing Dubai's iconic landmarks and tourist attractions, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and showcasing the latest in aviation, accommodation, hospitality, and tourism. The Authority's engagement at ATM aimed to promote cultural tourism in Dubai and solidify its status as a top global destination for living, working, and entertainment.

At the Dubai Government Pavilion, Dubai Culture highlighted its premier cultural assets, including the Al Shindagha Museum, the UAE's most extensive heritage museum. This museum offers a deep dive into Dubai's history, origins, and traditional lifestyle from the mid-19th century to the 1970s. Boasting 22 pavilions and over 80 houses that meet global standards, the museum features a wealth of artefacts, films, and historical photographs contributed by over 100 local community members, offering a distinctive cultural heritage experience.

Further elevating Dubai's cultural landscape at the ATM was the introduction of the Etihad Museum to visitors. This museum is dedicated to documenting the nation's formation and celebrating the founding fathers' commitment and national spirit. It provides an immersive journey through the events leading to the UAE's establishment in 1971, enriched with interactive exhibitions and educational programmes. The Etihad Museum stands out with its seven columns representing the pens used to sign the union document and includes a library, educational centre, and temporary exhibition hall.

A unique exhibition within the VIP Majlis at ATM featured five art pieces by Emirati artist Ammar Al Banna, including 'Twin Peaks', 'Mountainside Farming', 'Colossal', 'Environmental Brutalism', and 'Against All Odds'. Through these artworks, Al Banna offers his unique perspective on the environment, nature, and local heritage. This initiative by Dubai Culture sought to empower local artists, highlight their accomplishments, and bolster Dubai's cultural and creative sectors.

Dubai Culture's participation in the ATM underlines its commitment to enhancing Dubai's cultural and tourism landscape. By showcasing the city's rich heritage and contemporary creative talents, the Authority reinforces Dubai's appeal as a vibrant cultural hub on the global stage.
