Dubai Culture And Dubai Municipality Join Forces To Transform Public Spaces Into Artistic Landmarks
Dubai Culture and Arts Authority has partnered with Dubai Municipality to enhance the city's visual identity through public art. This collaboration aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, focusing on sustainable urban development centred around people. The agreement aims to improve life quality in Dubai, reinforcing its status as a global hub for culture, creativity, and talent.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) highlights the shared commitment of both entities to expand cooperation and communication. They aim to exchange best practices in identifying locations for artworks and installations. This initiative will transform Dubai into an open-air art gallery accessible to everyone. The plan involves selecting sites for showcasing art and obtaining necessary approvals from relevant authorities.

Under this agreement, Dubai Culture will decide on the number of artworks and installations annually, aligning with the city's beautification plan. Meanwhile, Dubai Municipality will choose proposed sites for these displays. They will also coordinate with government and private entities to secure permits for executing public art projects.
Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, emphasised the partnership's role in transforming public spaces into an open art museum. She stated: "Through our Public Art Strategy, we seek to foster a culture of innovation, support Dubai’s creative economy, empower artists by expanding their presence in the local art scene, and encourage them to contribute to greater artistic appreciation in the emirate."
Badri praised Dubai Municipality's efforts in supporting the Public Art Strategy and enhancing the city's appeal through various projects across streets and residential areas. These initiatives aim to enrich spaces with unique artworks that reflect Dubai's creative identity.
Aesthetic Appeal and Cultural Vibrancy
Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality, highlighted the partnership's significance in boosting Dubai’s aesthetic appeal and cultural vibrancy. He remarked: "This agreement marks a key step in our efforts to integrate art and urban development, ensuring that Dubai remains a city of creativity, innovation, and cultural expression."
He further explained that this collaboration aims to transform public spaces into dynamic artistic landmarks reflecting Dubai’s unique identity. By integrating artistic elements with urban beautification projects, they reinforce Dubai’s position as a model for sustainable urban design.
This strategic partnership between Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and Dubai Municipality is pivotal in enriching artistic experiences across public spaces. It supports sustainable urban development goals while fostering a vibrant cultural environment that benefits residents and visitors alike.
