Dubai Civil Defence Unveils Ambitious 1 Billion Readiness Initiative To Enhance Global Fire Safety Awareness
The Dubai Civil Defence has introduced the '1 Billion Readiness' initiative under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This significant programme aims to educate 1 billion individuals globally on fire safety and prevention techniques from 2025 to 2027. It is recognised as the largest initiative of its kind, focusing on enhancing safety and fire hazard prevention worldwide.
Lieutenant General Expert Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi emphasised the importance of this initiative in raising global awareness about fire prevention. He stated, "This initiative will raise global awareness about fire prevention and the importance of safety procedures through comprehensive awareness campaigns. These efforts will be supported by specialised digital platforms available in multiple languages worldwide. Additionally, the programme will provide participants with certified electronic certificates upon course completion, issued by the Global Wildfire Monitoring Center and the Dubai Civil Defense Readiness Program."
This ambitious effort is spearheaded by the UAE and involves collaboration with 34 countries and 18 major firefighting organisations. The initiative underscores the UAE's commitment to improving global safety and security systems. By working together internationally, these entities aim to enhance preparedness and response capabilities across various regions.
A crucial part of this initiative is the Hope Convoys project, which focuses on supporting developing nations. This project aims to supply essential equipment and establish fire stations in these regions, thereby boosting their emergency response capabilities. Additionally, it seeks to strengthen international relationships in safety management.
On a local scale, extensive awareness campaigns will target diverse segments of society, including individuals, government bodies, private sectors, and educational institutions. The goal is to reach as many people as possible with vital information on fire safety practices.
These campaigns will utilise specialised digital platforms that offer content in multiple languages to ensure broad accessibility. Participants who complete courses will receive certified electronic certificates from both the Global Wildfire Monitoring Center and the Dubai Civil Defense Readiness Program.
This initiative not only aims to educate but also to equip communities with necessary tools for effective emergency management. By fostering international cooperation and local engagement, it strives to create a safer world for everyone involved.
