Dubai Chamber Of Commerce Hosts Workshop On Importance Of Sustainability Reporting For Businesses
The Dubai Chamber of Commerce recently hosted an online workshop focusing on sustainability reports. This session underscored the significance of sustainability reporting in boosting transparency regarding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards for investors, consumers, and regulatory bodies. The event was organised by the chamber’s Centre for Responsible Business and saw participation from 147 representatives of private sector companies.
Participants explored how sustainability reporting is a crucial tool for businesses to showcase their ESG performance, manage risks, and engage effectively with stakeholders. Discussions also highlighted how comprehensive reporting can aid companies in driving long-term value creation and maintaining competitiveness amid evolving regulatory and market landscapes.

The workshop provided insights into the objectives and standards of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce ESG Label. Launched last year by the Centre for Responsible Business, this initiative assists companies in assessing their ESG readiness and maturity levels. It also helps them gain recognition for their efforts while fostering business growth.
A presentation by the United Nations Global Compact UAE Chapter was featured during the session. It offered valuable insights into aligning business operations with global sustainability standards through its principles and reporting framework. Attendees also examined a case study from Transworld Group on adopting Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards to prepare a comprehensive sustainability report.
Since its inception, the Centre for Responsible Business at Dubai Chamber of Commerce has been pivotal in promoting responsible and sustainable business practices within the emirate. The centre remains dedicated to supporting companies in adopting best practices in ESG to enhance performance, increase competitiveness, and enrich social and environmental contributions.
The centre offers various platforms and tools alongside access to knowledge and expertise to help businesses integrate governance, sustainability, and social responsibility throughout their operations. This commitment ensures that companies are well-equipped to navigate the complexities of modern business environments while contributing positively to society.
By providing such resources, the centre encourages businesses to adopt sustainable practices that not only improve their operational efficiency but also contribute positively to society's overall well-being. This approach aligns with global trends towards more transparent and accountable business operations.
