Dubai Chamber Of Commerce Organises 252 Bilateral Business Meetings In Luanda To Strengthen Dubai-Angola Cooperation

Dubai Chamber of Commerce, part of Dubai Chambers, recently facilitated 252 business meetings between companies from Dubai and Angola. These meetings were held in Luanda, Angola's capital, as the first step of a trade mission to Angola and Mozambique under the 'New Horizons' initiative. This initiative aims to help Dubai-based companies expand internationally by exploring opportunities in promising global markets.

The trade mission included representatives from 20 private sector companies based in Dubai. These companies operate across various industries such as agriculture, construction, electronics, energy, engineering, FMCG trading, food and beverages, IT, manufacturing, maritime services, metallurgical industries, real estate, retail, and logistics. The mission's goal was to explore new business opportunities in Angola.

Dubai Chamber Hosts Business Meetings in Luanda

A business forum titled ‘Doing Business with Angola’ was organised by Dubai Chamber of Commerce in Luanda. This event was supported by the UAE Embassy in Luanda and several Angolan organisations including the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Angola (CCIA). The forum attracted 416 participants including senior officials and business leaders interested in partnerships.

During the forum, Salem Al Shamsi from Dubai Chambers presented on Dubai’s economic landscape. He highlighted the emirate’s competitive advantages for businesses and investors. Additionally, a discussion session featured Jerónimo Nunda Pongolola from AIPEX. This session explored Angola’s economic environment and strategies for Dubai companies to establish operations there.

The non-oil trade value between Dubai and Angola reached AED 7.8 billion in 2024. This marks a 3.3% increase compared to AED 7.6 billion in the previous year. By Q1 2025, 72 Angolan companies were registered as active members of Dubai Chamber of Commerce. This growth reflects strengthening economic ties between the two regions.

Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah from Dubai Chambers stated: "We remain committed to building bridges of trade and investment cooperation between Dubai and countries around the world in support of our shared development goals and interests." He emphasised that this mission opens new avenues for businesses seeking expansion into vital markets like Angola.

Investment Opportunities Identified

Dubai Chamber of Commerce identified several high-potential export products from Dubai to Angola including cell phones, textiles, aluminium plates, pharmaceuticals, rice, and perfumes. For investments by Dubai-based companies in Angola, key sectors include offshore oil technologies; airport management; marine technologies like fisheries; health services; equipment supplies; infrastructure projects such as aviation; and rail transport.

This trade mission is part of ongoing efforts to enhance competitiveness within Dubai’s business community while supporting non-oil foreign trade growth. By unlocking opportunities in emerging markets like Angola through initiatives like 'New Horizons,' Dubai aims to foster international growth for its companies.
