DP World And Schneider Electric Join Forces To Upskill Emirati Youth In Sustainability And Technology

Schneider Electric and DP World have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the skills of Emirati youth in sustainability and digital technologies. This partnership aims to bridge the gap in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM) fields. The agreement was formalised with Jean-Pascal Tricoire from Schneider Electric and Abdulla bin Damithan from DP World present at the signing ceremony.

The MoU was signed by Maha AlQattan, Group Chief Sustainability Officer at DP World, and Amel Chadli, President of Gulf Countries for Schneider Electric. This collaboration will introduce two key programs: the ‘Experience Exchange’ Program and the ‘Future Sustainability Leaders’ Program. These initiatives are designed to foster knowledge sharing and equip young professionals with essential skills.

Collaboration to Upskill Emirati Youth in Sustainability

The ‘Experience Exchange’ Program involves three employees from each company spending time at the partner organisation. This initiative aims to enhance understanding of sustainability practices within business operations. It is a strategic move to deepen mutual insights into effective sustainability measures across both companies.

The ‘Future Sustainability Leaders’ Program will commence next year, targeting fresh UAE graduates. This five-month initiative includes training sessions focused on sustainability, decarbonisation, and artificial intelligence (AI). Participants will also engage in a one-month internship to gain practical industry experience.

Maha AlQattan emphasised the importance of this partnership in expanding opportunities for Emirati youth. She stated, "We are using our reach at DP World to expand opportunities and bridge the divide across Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths." She highlighted that equipping young people with necessary tools is crucial as the world tackles climate change challenges.

Amel Chadli expressed pride in collaborating with DP World to nurture future leaders in sustainability and technology. He noted that this partnership aligns with UAE’s vision for a sustainable economy by empowering young Emirati professionals. "By empowering young Emirati professionals, we are not only enhancing their individual development but also advancing the UAE's vision of becoming a global leader in innovation," he added.

Complementing Ongoing Initiatives

This collaboration supports Schneider Electric’s existing efforts in the UAE, such as the "Tamayuz Program". This program focuses on empowering Emirati graduates while promoting female participation in industrial sectors. It reflects Schneider Electric’s commitment to fostering local talent and supporting sustainable development goals.

The joint efforts between Schneider Electric and DP World signify a shared dedication towards nurturing talent capable of driving sustainable progress. By investing in education and skill development, both organisations aim to contribute significantly to UAE’s ambitious youth and climate agenda.
