DP World And SailGP Launch Global Smart Logistics Partnership
DP World, recognized globally for its comprehensive supply chain solutions, has entered into a pioneering logistics partnership with SailGP, a leader in sailing competitions. This collaboration marks a significant step in handling the logistical needs of SailGP's annual series of events, which are hosted in some of the most spectacular locations worldwide.
The partnership is set to launch at the highly anticipated Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix, courtesy of P&O Marinas, marking the beginning of the SailGP 2025 Season. This event, scheduled for November 23–24, 2024, at P&O Marinas Port Mina Rashid, will feature the championship's largest lineup of national teams, showcasing the synergy between DP World and SailGP in championing efficiency, sustainability, and innovation.

"We're thrilled to welcome DP World onboard as SailGP's Global Smart Logistics Partner. SailGP is one of the most complex logistical operations in sport. Transporting thousands of pieces of race equipment around the world means we need to work with industry-leading, forward thinking partners such as DP World. Together, we're finding new and innovative ways to bring our global calendar and the most exciting racing on water to more fans than ever before - shaping a truly unique and authentic global partnership," said SailGP Managing Director Andrew Thompson.
Daniel van Otterdijk, DP World Chief Communications Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "We're delighted to partner with SailGP to help them deliver smarter, more efficient, more sustainable logistics solutions for their global calendar of races over the next three years. It's another great opportunity to bring our global network and world class logistics capabilities to the sporting arena and we're excited to get started at the race this weekend."
With over 115,000 employees in 78 countries, DP World is well-equipped to manage the expansive logistics for SailGP's events across five continents, including cities like Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, New York, and Geneva. DP World's commitment to sustainability and reducing carbon footprints aligns with SailGP's goals, promising a tailored logistics schedule that emphasizes low-carbon transportation methods and route optimization for efficiency.
SailGP relies on swift, eco-friendly transportation and storage for its 12-strong fleet of F50 catamarans and additional technical equipment spanning several continents. The F50s, high-tech sailing vessels, are disassembled into components for transport and later reassembled at race venues, necessitating meticulous planning and execution.
In addition to logistical support, DP World gains significant branding opportunities at all SailGP events, including visibility within the Race Stadium and on the F50 fleet. The partnership also extends to digital branding around the racecourse, leveraging SailGP's award-winning LiveLine graphics and broadcast technology to reach audiences in over 212 territories globally.
A highlight of DP World's sponsorship will be its support for SailGP's most ambitious women's development camp yet in Dubai. This initiative includes specialized training and practice races, both on and off the water, marking a significant step towards greater gender equity in the sport.
The Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix, the kickoff event for this partnership, not only cements Dubai's position on the Middle East sporting calendar but also promises an unforgettable experience with performances by Tinie Tempah and Craig David.
