DMCC Hosts Inaugural Japan Roadshow To Foster Dubai's Tech And Trade Expansion

DMCC, recognized as the world's leading free zone and a Dubai Government Authority on commodities trade and enterprise, has recently concluded its inaugural Made for Trade Live roadshow in Japan. This event underscored the focus on Web3, gaming, and AI, aiming to enrich the already vibrant tech ecosystem within DMCC. The Tokyo event is a testament to the strengthening trade and investment ties between the UAE and Japan, with DMCC currently hosting 83 Japanese companies. This represents over 24% of Japanese firms established in the UAE, highlighting Dubai as a critical hub for Japanese businesses looking to expand their growth.

The roadshow provided a platform for DMCC executives to engage with Japanese business leaders from the Web3, AI, and gaming sectors. They discussed the myriad opportunities available for expansion within DMCC, emphasizing Dubai's strategic position as a connector to some of the globe's rapidly growing markets. Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, expressed optimism about the untapped potential within the market. He highlighted the district's enhanced value proposition, dedicated tech ecosystems, and forthcoming infrastructure developments such as the DMCC AI Centre as key drivers for attracting more Japanese companies in areas like Web3, crypto, gaming, and AI.

DMCC's Japan Roadshow Boosts Tech Growth

Shihab Ahmed Mohamed Abdulrahmaim Alfaheem, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UAE to Japan, during his opening remarks, shed light on the flourishing economic partnership between the two nations. He noted a significant 57.5% increase in bilateral trade volume in 2022, reaching over US$54.5 billion. The Ambassador attributed this growth to initiatives such as the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Initiative (CSPI) and the Japan-UAE Coordination scheme for Advanced Technology (JU-CAT). These efforts underscore a shared commitment to leveraging data and technology for mutual prosperity. Alfaheem praised Dubai's role as a gateway to some of the world's fastest-growing markets and commended DMCC's efforts in showcasing its value proposition to Japanese companies.

The successful execution of the Made for Trade Live roadshow in Japan by DMCC marks a significant milestone in fostering economic ties between the UAE and Japan.
