DMA Introduces Remote Technical Inspection Service For Marine Vessel Licence Renewals In Dubai

The Dubai Maritime Authority, under the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, has introduced a Remote Technical Inspection Service. This service is designed for renewing licences of pleasure marine vessels up to 12 meters, water sports crafts, and foreign visiting marine vessels. It allows customers to complete inspections with ease and flexibility, adhering to top international standards. This initiative aims to save time and effort while improving service quality.

Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, CEO of the Dubai Maritime Authority, explained that this service aligns with their digital transformation strategy. He noted it follows directives from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to simplify lives and enhance government services by adopting efficient models that reduce bureaucracy. The goal is to make government services globally leading.

Remote Inspection Service for Marine Licences Launched

Sheikh Saeed remarked, "Launching the remote technical inspection service reflects our commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and providing innovative solutions that keep pace with global developments. The Authority is keen to offer digital services that make it easier for customers to access services and ensure business continuity without the need for in-person visits." This initiative is crucial for improving maritime compliance by allowing smooth inspections while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Hamed Hassan, Director of the Maritime Registration Department at the Dubai Maritime Authority, detailed how customers can book inspection appointments via the Authority’s online portal or by submitting a request directly to the department. After confirming the booking and completing payment, customers receive a secure link for conducting the remote technical inspection.

During the scheduled virtual session, both inspector and customer join online. The customer follows instructions from the inspector and presents necessary elements as per an approved checklist. Sessions are recorded after obtaining customer consent, ensuring transparency and adherence to digital governance standards set by the Dubai Maritime Authority.

Once the inspection concludes, a report detailing results is prepared by the inspector. This report is emailed to customers and also available for download through their personal account on the Authority’s online portal. This process contributes to faster transaction processing and enhances customer satisfaction.

This new service underscores Dubai's commitment to innovation in maritime operations. By leveraging technology, it simplifies processes while maintaining high standards of safety and quality in maritime activities.
