DIPW Launches Workshop To Enhance Scientific Translation And Arabic Content Production
The Dubai International Program for Writing (DIPW), an initiative by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), has introduced a 'Scientific Translation' workshop. This virtual event, led by Dr. Ghanim Al Samerrai, aims to boost Arabic scientific content through translation. Thirteen young translators participated to enhance their skills in this field.
Translation plays a crucial role in bridging languages and cultures, facilitating the transfer of modern scientific research across different languages. This process broadens the reach of scientific discoveries to various beneficiaries. The workshop's goal is to advance MBRF’s mission of producing and spreading Arabic scientific content.

Dr. Ghanim Al Samerrai stated, "The ‘Scientific Translation’ workshop aligns perfectly with DIPW’s efforts to enhance the knowledge and translation movement in the Arab World as well as enriching the Arabic knowledge production." He emphasised that this initiative makes recent global research accessible to a wider audience, including researchers and students.
Besides improving translators' skills, the workshop strengthens connections between Arab academia and global experiences. It supports creating an innovative Arab knowledge society by offering accurate scientific content for students and researchers to generate new ideas.
Scientific translation aids evidence-based decision-making in fields like health, education, and energy, contributing to sustainable development. It raises awareness and consolidates innovation among researchers by providing them with reliable information from various sources.
The workshop also encourages international cooperation in scientific research, ensuring knowledge preservation by documenting research in multiple languages. This enriches the global scientific landscape, enabling societies to develop innovative solutions to modern challenges.
Nurturing Young Talent
DIPW is committed to nurturing talent in the Arab world by enhancing young writers’ abilities and offering opportunities for publishing creative work. This workshop is part of DIPW's activities aimed at fostering a new generation of creative writers and translators.
The program seeks to open avenues for exchanging Arab scientific and literary products with international counterparts. By doing so, it supports the creation of a vibrant community of writers and translators who contribute significantly to global knowledge exchange.
This initiative highlights the essential role of translation in expanding access to scientific research and fostering innovation within the Arab world. Through such efforts, DIPW continues its commitment to developing a robust knowledge society based on sustainability and creativity.
