DIHAD Signs Strategic Memorandum Of Understanding With G20 And G7 Health Partnership To Enhance Global Cooperation

The DIHAD Sustainable Organisation took part in the 2025 H20 Summit in Geneva from 19 to 20 June. This event was co-hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO) and organised by the G20 and G7 Health and Development Partnership. During the summit, a strategic Memorandum of Understanding was signed to enhance international cooperation in humanitarian, health, and education sectors.

Amb. Dr. Abdulsalam AlMadani, Chairman of DIHAD Sustainable Organisation and DISAB, highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy at the summit. He stressed its role in rebuilding community trust, enhancing accountability, and turning global commitments into national actions. Legislative dialogue and cross-border cooperation were emphasised as crucial, especially in crisis-affected regions.

DIHAD Signs MoU with G20 and G7 Health Partnership

Eng. Khaled Al Attar, Director General of DIHAD Sustainable Organisation, contributed to the closing session on Day One. He called for a shift from fragmented efforts to unified strategies that are impact-driven. He highlighted the need for integrated ecosystems addressing health disparities and strengthening links between humanitarian response, sustainable development, and innovation.

The summit aimed to explore ways to develop more resilient health systems through dialogue among senior policymakers, health sector leaders, and development experts worldwide. The theme was "Reimagining Partnerships & Building Back Public Trust in Global Health." The event provided a platform for discussions on making health systems more inclusive and innovative.

The Memorandum of Understanding signed at the summit marks a significant step forward in strengthening cross-sectoral cooperation. It was signed by Eng. Khaled Al Attar and Ms. Hatice Beton from the G20 & G7 Health and Development Partnership. The MoU outlines commitments to support each other's initiatives in humanitarian, health, and educational sectors.

Alan Donnelly stated: "Today’s MOU between G20&G7 Health and Development Partnership and DIHAD Sustainable Organisation will significantly strengthen our efforts to drive global health and sustainable development priorities at a critical time for many countries." This agreement aims to foster collaboration on sustainable development projects and explore opportunities for joint events.

Insights from WHO Leadership

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed gratitude for H20's advocacy during this critical time in global health. He said: "WHO thanks the H20 for its advocacy at this critical time in global health." He emphasised new partnerships due to funding disruptions and changing disease burdens while promoting health prevention strategies.

The summit also focused on securing health's role in future G20 meetings starting in 2026 under US leadership. Discussions included global health financing's current state and public-private partnerships' importance for future progress.

DIHAD's Commitment to Global Health

Reflecting on the summit outcomes, Amb. Dr. Abdulsalam AlMadani stated: "Addressing today’s global health challenges requires collective responsibility." He stressed supporting global frameworks through effective dialogue while prioritising primary healthcare innovation to improve efficiency.

This collaboration aligns with UAE's vision of promoting human dignity, equitable healthcare access, particularly in regions affected by conflict or poverty. Through partnerships like these, DIHAD reaffirms its role as a catalyst for change globally.

The insights from this two-day event will contribute to upcoming UN General Assembly meetings on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in September as well as G20 Health Ministers’ Summit in South Africa this November.
