Digital Dubai Launches Comprehensive Labor Force Survey For 2024 To Enhance Employment Strategies
Digital Dubai, through the Dubai Data and Statistics Establishment (DDSE), has introduced the Dubai Labor Force Survey 2024. This initiative seeks to gauge the labour force size, pinpoint employment and unemployment indicators, and deliver current demographic, social, and economic data. The survey focuses on both the general population and economically active individuals.
The DDSE urges households to engage in this survey, aiding authorised field teams. Accurate information from participants will guide decision-makers in crafting future strategies. This survey aligns with DDSE's strategic plan and supports Dubai’s Social Agenda D33, aiming to enhance social protection and empowerment by promoting equal opportunities for all societal segments.

This year’s survey will employ a hybrid method, offering telephone interviews, email communication, and personal visits to households and labour camps. Scheduled from 1st October to 21st November 2024, it adheres to national and international standards. The target is a sample of 5,500 households across different Dubai communities.
Privacy and information security are paramount in this survey. The DDSE assures strict adherence to these standards while analysing collected data. The analysis will reveal characteristics of both employed and unemployed individuals, including their conditions.
The survey aims to provide a detailed view of demographic, social, and economic traits of the population and workforce. It examines economic participation rates, job composition, employment status, unemployment rates by various characteristics, and tracks changes over time.
Younus Al Nasser, CEO of DDSE, emphasised the survey's significance in delivering precise data about population traits. He stated: "Field surveys are one of the key and direct means we adopt in Dubai to understand the reality and assist decision-makers in establishing strategies, policies, and development programs that support national talents."
Impact on Economic Growth
The Labour Force Survey is crucial for enhancing job opportunities and fostering economic growth in Dubai. It contributes significantly to achieving goals outlined in Dubai’s economy agenda D33. Active participation ensures accurate data collection which bolsters DDSE's efforts in creating a comprehensive data system.
This system aids understanding of the workforce's current state in Dubai. It enables government entities to devise plans for providing job opportunities for national talents. The survey also assesses Emiratisation levels within the emirate.
The DDSE highlights that this annual survey is among its top priorities due to its vital role in improving job prospects. It evaluates professional and digital skills available against market demands.
The Labour Force Survey not only measures unemployment but also examines labour force size. It evaluates skill levels available professionally and digitally while ensuring alignment with market needs.
