DIFC And Dubai Cares Launch 'The Space In Between' Sculpture To Empower Youth Through Art
The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and Dubai Cares, part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, have introduced a new sculpture named The Space in Between. This artwork symbolises transformation, potential, and collective action. Created by UAE-based artists Sawsan and Bahar Al Bahar, it is showcased by Firetti Contemporary gallery at Alserkal Avenue in Dubai.
The sculpture was unveiled during DIFC's annual Sculpture Park event. This occasion highlights DIFC's role as a cultural hub, enhancing Dubai's artistic landscape and positioning the city as an "open-air art gallery" and a global arts destination. The event underscores the city's commitment to arts and culture.

The Space in Between is crafted from materials like concrete, resin, earth, and steel. Weighing around 2,000 kg, this site-specific installation is carved from a solid block. It features a dynamic void that serves as an artistic metaphor for the untapped creativity within young people. The intricate layers represent the depth of talent that can be unlocked with proper support.
This initiative aligns with DIFC’s Sculpting Futures programme launched earlier this year in collaboration with Dubai Cares. It aims to empower youth globally through skills development and future preparation. The programme supports Dubai Cares' mission to equip young people with essential skills for future success.
Alya AlZarouni, Chief Operating Officer at DIFC Authority, stated: "This initiative reflects DIFC’s commitment to creating meaningful pathways for youth and driving sustainable change. We are proud to stand alongside Dubai Cares and our partners in the private sector to support a future where every young person has the opportunity to thrive."
Amal Al Redha, Director of Partnerships at Dubai Cares, commented on the initiative's impact: "This sculpture is a powerful representation of the journey young people take when given the chance to grow, learn, and lead. The funds raised through Sculpting Futures will directly support our mission to prepare youth for the future of work and ensure they are equipped with the skills needed to succeed."
Investing in Youth Empowerment
Dubai Cares has invested over AED38.5 million (US$10.5 million) in youth empowerment programmes so far. These efforts drive significant change across education, employment, and community leadership sectors worldwide. The organisation remains committed to building systems that offer sustainable opportunities for youth globally.
The initiative also focuses on empowering young individuals to influence policy and lead community changes effectively. By building partnerships and systems that provide long-term opportunities, it ensures a brighter future for youth worldwide.
