AI Revolution: 700+ Companies Set Up In Dubai's Integrated Economic Zones For Future Growth

Over 700 firms specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) have established operations within the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority's (DIEZ) three economic zones. These zones comprise the Dubai Airport Freezone, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and Dubai CommerCity.

During the recent Dubai AI Week, an event held under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, this significant development was shared.

The array of AI companies operating within the DIEZ spans startups, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to multinational corporations, each offering a unique set of specialized AI services. Many of these entities are also pioneering AI-related technologies and applications, which aligns with the strategic goals of DIEZ.

This alignment not only advances the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031 but also supports the Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence, aiming to expedite the adoption of AI applications.

Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Executive Chairman of DIEZ, emphasized the alignment of the AI strategy with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai.

He stated, "The artificial intelligence strategy adopted by DIEZ reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which aims to solidify the UAE's global leadership in AI and create agile and smart business environments that enhance the competitiveness of the national economy."

Al Zarooni further highlighted the success of this strategy in the expansion of AI-focused companies within the economic free zones. He remarked, "The success of this strategy is reflected in the growth of AI-focused companies within DIEZ's economic free zones, underscoring our commitment to leading in this space by staying ahead of change and leveraging advanced technologies across all areas of operation. This reaffirms that artificial intelligence today stands as a foundational pillar in Dubai's economic transformation journey, ensuring long-term sustainability and growth."

DIEZ's AI strategy is anchored in three core pillars: people, customers, and technology management. These pillars are designed to leverage human capital through AI tools, enhance customer experiences with smart, data-driven solutions, and build advanced digital infrastructure for quality, compliance, robust governance, and sustainable AI deployment.

The strategy includes 12 high-impact initiatives focusing on autonomous service delivery, improving customer experience, boosting employee efficiency, and utilizing big data analytics. These initiatives also cover innovative use cases for decision-making and digital infrastructure development across all DIEZ free zones.

Ongoing projects under this strategy feature the development of AI-powered tools for document review and auditing, specialized cybersecurity solutions, customer service platforms, and systems for training, recruitment, and fraud detection. Through these efforts, DIEZ aims to significantly improve organizational performance and affirm its role in Dubai's digital evolution, aligning with the emirate's vision for a knowledge-based, technology-driven future.
