DFWAC Commemorates International Day Of Families With Focus On Resilience And Well-Being

The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) marked the International Day of Families by launching initiatives focused on family-oriented policies for sustainable development. A virtual session titled "Family Resilience," led by Amna Ibrahim Al Mutawa, attracted about 100 participants. This session highlighted the importance of strong family relationships in today's society.

Al Mutawa explained resilience as a family's ability to adapt during crises, find meaning in challenges, and turn adversity into growth opportunities. The session explored resilience from scientific and psychological perspectives, emphasising practical applications. It also addressed barriers like fear of change, poor communication, and social pressures.

DFWAC's digital campaign on social media aimed to promote family stability, emotional well-being, and social cohesion. This initiative supports the Year of Community 2025 by encouraging families to create emotionally safe environments. The campaign provided accessible content on managing stress and fostering understanding within families.

The webinar discussed key psychological factors influencing resilience, such as open communication, emotional support, flexible roles, and a non-judgemental atmosphere. Strategies to strengthen these dynamics included involving children in decisions, promoting mutual appreciation, and creating daily family rituals to build emotional bonds.

The session also tackled modern challenges like digital distractions, changing parental roles, and reduced quality time. Families were encouraged to reclaim shared experiences through simple practices such as regular mealtimes and open dialogue. These efforts aim to reinforce the foundation's belief that societal strength is linked to resilient families.

Shaikha Saeed Al Mansouri, Acting Director-General of DFWAC, highlighted the continuous pressures families face today: "That’s why it is essential to shift families into a state of conscious resilience. Today’s session reflects a sincere desire in the community to invest in their families, both emotionally and psychologically."

Commitment to Awareness Initiatives

Al Mansouri added that DFWAC remains committed to launching awareness initiatives addressing society's evolving needs. These efforts reinforce the family's role as a cornerstone of social cohesion. This aligns with UAE national directives that view family welfare as essential for cultural awareness, stability, and long-term development.

The initiative underscored that resilient families play a crucial role in preventing addiction by providing emotionally supportive environments. Such environments help children develop healthy coping mechanisms. The foundation believes that societal strength is closely tied to family resilience and adaptability amid daily stressors.
