DEWA And EPRI Discuss Enhanced Cooperation For Renewable Energy And Sustainability Initiatives

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), a prominent US entity in electric power research, are exploring enhanced collaboration. Their focus is on renewable energy training, network modernisation, and energy storage solutions. This initiative was discussed during a visit by EPRI's high-level delegation to DEWA's headquarters, led by Arshad Mansoor, President and CEO of EPRI.

During the meeting, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, welcomed the delegation. The discussions aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships in research and development (R&D), sustainability, and innovation within the energy sector. Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA, along with Ghanem Al Qassim, Senior Manager - Solar Power at DEWA, were also present.

DEWA and EPRI Collaborate on Energy Solutions

Al Tayer highlighted DEWA's dedication to collaborating with leading global research centres. This partnership aims to enhance national skills for future leadership roles in climate action and accelerate both energy transition and digital transformation. This commitment aligns with DEWA's vision to promote sustainability through advanced eco-friendly solutions.

The cooperation between DEWA and EPRI includes specialised programmes in smart grids, energy efficiency, asset management analysis, cyber security, data analysis, renewable energy systems, and photovoltaic system integration. These initiatives are crucial for enhancing DEWA employees' capabilities to anticipate future challenges while providing researchers opportunities to exchange technical expertise.

DEWA's efforts align with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. These strategies aim for 100% of Dubai's energy production capacity to come from clean sources by 2050. The collaboration with EPRI supports these goals by focusing on sustainable practices within the electric power sector.
