DEWA Launches Project Management Training Centre To Enhance Employee Skills And Competitiveness
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched a new 'Project Management Training Centre' at its Al Hudaiba campus. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, inaugurated the centre, which is accredited by the Project Management Institute (PMI). It aims to offer advanced training programmes to employees from government and private sectors, DEWA subsidiaries, and the general public.
Al Tayer highlighted Dubai's status as a global leader in executing major projects with high standards of quality, efficiency, and sustainability. He noted that as technology evolves rapidly, project management becomes crucial for competitiveness and institutional growth. "Dubai has become a global role model in the implementation of significant, leading projects that adhere to the highest quality, efficiency and sustainability standards," he stated.

DEWA's collaboration with PMI has enabled it to deliver advanced training programmes for its employees. These programmes cover various aspects of project management aligned with top international standards. Al Tayer expressed satisfaction in extending these opportunities to other organisations: "We are pleased to extend these training opportunities to employees of government and private organisations."
Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA, provided insights into the achievements of DEWA employees. By the end of 2024, 280 employees had obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Additionally, 120 professionals received other PMI certifications.
In 2010, DEWA became the first Dubai Government entity certified as a training partner by PMI for project management education and accreditation activities. This milestone underscores DEWA's commitment to fostering professional development within its workforce.
The newly established centre will build on DEWA’s successful internal training courses. It aims to enhance resilience in tackling challenges while promoting innovation and data-driven decisions through effective project management practices.
The initiative reflects DEWA’s dedication to maintaining an optimal balance between quality, time, and cost in project execution. This structured approach ensures that strategic objectives are met efficiently while supporting sustainable growth across various sectors.
