Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), highlighted that customers completed over 6.7 million digital transactions in the first half of 2024. This marks an increase of about 11% compared to approximately 6 million transactions in the same period in 2023.
DEWA's press release on Friday revealed that over 1.1 million digital transactions were conducted via DEWA's website, more than 2.2 million through its smart app, and over 3.3 million via various digital channels provided in collaboration with partners.

Al Tayer emphasised DEWA's dedication to the Dubai Digital Strategy and its goal to position Dubai as the leading digital city globally. He stated that DEWA leverages disruptive technologies from the Fourth Industrial Revolution to speed up digital transformation, enhance transaction efficiency, and boost stakeholder satisfaction.
DEWA's advanced digital infrastructure has significantly increased the smart adoption of its services to 99.2%. By the end of 2023, DEWA had digitally integrated more than 90 projects with 65 government and private organisations.
"We are guided by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to establish Dubai as a leading power in the global digital ecosystem. We also follow the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, to transform Dubai Government into a fully smart model," Al Tayer added.
The significant opportunities presented by disruptive technologies have been instrumental for DEWA in accelerating its digital transformation efforts. This has not only improved transaction efficiency but also enhanced overall stakeholder happiness.
In conclusion, DEWA's commitment to advancing its digital infrastructure aligns with Dubai's broader strategy to become a global leader in digital innovation. The authority's efforts have resulted in substantial growth in digital transactions and integration with numerous projects and organisations.
