UAE Government's Decision To Waive Health Insurance Fines Supports Humanitarian Efforts
The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has confirmed that the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi's decision to waive health insurance fines for law violators, whose status has been approved for amendment, demonstrates the UAE's integrated government work system. This move underscores the commitment of all government bodies to support the initiative's humanitarian aspect and establish necessary legal frameworks, thereby reinforcing respect for the law among community members.
Lieutenant General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director-General of the Authority, mentioned that exempting violators from health insurance fines will aid in regularising their status. This encourages them to rectify their situations and benefit from the initiative. The decision reflects a humanitarian approach, ensuring access to health services for all residents while fostering a legal environment and a leading health system.

Lieutenant General Al Khaili further explained that violators wishing to amend their status can choose to stay in the country or leave. To benefit from the exemption period from health insurance fines, those opting to remain must promptly start obtaining health insurance documentation once their applications are approved.
Bina Al Awani, Executive Director of the Health Care Financing Providers Sector at the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi, stated, "The waiver decision is part of the Department's commitment to facilitating the process for all community members to obtain insurance coverage that enables them to access healthcare services meeting the highest quality standards and best global practices whenever needed."
The Department of Health - Abu Dhabi encourages individuals to take advantage of this initiative by completing health insurance enrolment procedures within the designated timeframe. This effort is aimed at ensuring everyone has access to necessary healthcare services while complying with legal requirements.
This initiative highlights a collaborative approach within UAE's government entities to address humanitarian concerns while maintaining legal integrity. It reflects a dedication to creating an inclusive environment where residents can access essential services without facing financial penalties.
