Crown Prince Of Abu Dhabi Delivers UAE Address At 19th G20 Summit In Brazil
H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, represented President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the 19th G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The UAE participated as a guest nation. During the event, Sheikh Khaled conveyed greetings from the UAE President to the attending leaders and expressed hopes for a fruitful summit.
The summit, held on 18-19 November 2024, focuses on crucial global issues under the theme "Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet." Discussions include enhancing global governance, tackling hunger and poverty, addressing climate challenges, promoting clean energy transition, and fostering sustainable development across various sectors.
Sheikh Khaled expressed gratitude to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil, for inviting the UAE to participate in the summit. He commended Brazil's efforts in ensuring the success of this significant international gathering. The UAE has been a guest at previous G20 summits in India (2023), Indonesia (2022), Saudi Arabia (2020), and France (2011).
Highlighting the UAE's dedication to combating hunger and poverty globally, Sheikh Khaled announced a $100 million allocation through the UAE Aid Agency. This contribution aligns with global efforts to support sustainable solutions and resources through initiatives like the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty.
An official delegation accompanied Sheikh Khaled to the summit. It included Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State; Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, Minister of Investment; Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; Saleh Ahmad Salem Alsuwaidi, Ambassador to Brazil; and Waleed Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi, Deputy Group CEO at Mubadala.
The UAE reaffirmed its commitment to its partnership with the G20 during this summit. Sheikh Khaled emphasised ongoing support for initiatives aimed at promoting development, peace, and prosperity on both regional and international levels.
This year's G20 sessions are pivotal in shaping policies that address pressing global challenges. The focus is on creating sustainable solutions that enhance social, economic, and environmental sectors worldwide.
