Crown Prince Of Abu Dhabi Attends G20 Summit In South Africa On Behalf Of UAE President
Representing President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, attended the G20 summit in Johannesburg, South Africa. The gathering included leaders and heads of state from G20 member nations. During the opening session, H.H. Sheikh Khaled presented the UAE's statement, focusing on economic development, trade roles, financing for development, and debt challenges.
H.H. Sheikh Khaled conveyed President Sheikh Mohamed's greetings to the attending leaders and wished them success at the summit. He expressed gratitude to Cyril Ramaphosa, President of South Africa, for inviting the UAE to participate this year. This meeting was described as a symbol of global partnership that fosters market interconnectedness and deeper economic integration worldwide.
Sheikh Khaled highlighted the UAE's ongoing collaboration with partners to enhance global economic cooperation. The aim is to strengthen a balanced international trading system that allows developing countries more effective participation in shaping global trade's future. This commitment underscores the UAE's dedication to fostering inclusive development through strategic partnerships.
The Crown Prince emphasized the importance of improving access to better financing solutions and accelerating projects in advanced technology, energy, health, and agriculture sectors. The focus remains on building capabilities, exchanging knowledge and expertise, empowering communities, and creating high-quality economic opportunities that support inclusive growth.
During his address, H.H. Sheikh Khaled announced the launch of the UAE’s AI for Development initiative. This initiative allocates $1 billion to finance artificial intelligence projects in African countries. The goal is to support economic and social development by enhancing digital infrastructure, government services, productivity, and quality of life.
The UAE delegation accompanying Sheikh Khaled included Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, Minister of Investment; Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State; Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Saif Saeed Ghobash from the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; and Maryam Eid AlMheiri from Abu Dhabi Media Office.
Continued Participation in G20 Summits
This marks the sixth time the UAE has participated in a G20 summit. Previous participations include summits held in Brazil (2024), India (2023), Indonesia (2022), Saudi Arabia (2020), and France (2011). These engagements reflect the UAE's ongoing commitment to contributing to global discussions on economic development and prosperity.
In his closing remarks at the summit, H.H. Sheikh Khaled reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to collaborating with all G20 partners to promote global development and prosperity.
