Sharjah-Based Crescent Petroleum Boosts Growth With Expanded SAP Deployment
Crescent Petroleum, based in Sharjah, has successfully implemented a specialised solution for the Oil & Gas industry from SAP. This marks an extension of their solutions roadmap that began in 2020 with Phase 1. The initial phase was notable for being the first global implementation of SAP S/4HANA Oil & Gas Model Company 1809, supporting various functions including plant maintenance and finance.
Ravi Kumar, Chief Corporate Officer of Crescent Petroleum and Board Member of the Crescent Group, stated, "Having completed the Phase 1 of the SAP roadmap in a record eight months, we set out to integrate Crescent Petroleum's operations, providing a seamless flow of data, from Wellhead to Customer, in Phase 2. The benefits are significant as we have integrated data across disparate parts of the plant, allowing us to seamlessly integrate plant systems with SAP systems and ensure a single source of truth across the company."

The second phase aimed at integrating Crescent Petroleum's operations further by ensuring a seamless data flow from wellhead to customer. This integration has allowed for a unified system where plant systems and SAP systems work together efficiently. The digitisation process has also accelerated broader objectives like real-time visibility of information across the company.
Sergio Maccotta, Senior Vice President of SAP Middle East & Africa - South, commented on their strategic relationship with Crescent Petroleum. He said, "We enjoy a strategic relationship with Crescent Petroleum, which is a strong advocate of 'best practice adoption' in the Oil & Gas industry, as confirmed when it won the SAP Quality Gold Award for best implementation in 2021 for Phase 1 of this project."
A significant part of Phase 2's success can be attributed to close collaboration among team members. This teamwork resulted in an integrated solution that delivers reliable data and streamlined processes. Enhanced operational efficiency and easily managed reporting for compliance purposes were also achieved.
Hybrid Delivery Model
The execution of Phase 2 followed a hybrid delivery model. Key activities such as solution workshops and user acceptance testing were conducted on-site. Meanwhile, build activities were carried out remotely. This approach ensured that critical tasks were handled efficiently while maintaining flexibility.
Kumar highlighted that digitising processes has provided insightful data for future digital initiatives planned by Crescent Petroleum. The company now enjoys real-time visibility across its entire operation, which supports various digital projects aimed at enhancing overall efficiency.
The successful deployment underscores Crescent Petroleum's commitment to leveraging advanced technology to streamline operations and improve data integration. Their ongoing partnership with SAP continues to play a crucial role in their digital transformation journey.
This achievement not only enhances operational efficiency but also sets a benchmark for best practices within the Oil & Gas industry. The integrated solution ensures that all parts of the plant work cohesively with SAP systems, creating a single source of truth across the company.
Crescent Petroleum's journey towards digital transformation is marked by strategic planning and effective collaboration. Their efforts have resulted in significant improvements in operational efficiency and data management.
The company's focus on integrating advanced technological solutions demonstrates its commitment to staying ahead in the competitive Oil & Gas sector. By adopting best practices and leveraging strategic partnerships, Crescent Petroleum continues to drive innovation within its operations.
Crescent Petroleum's successful implementation serves as an example for other companies aiming to enhance their operational efficiency through digital transformation initiatives.
