AD Ports Group Publishes Comprehensive Report On Coral Relocation In The Arabian Gulf
AD Ports Group has released a comprehensive report titled "Coral Relocation in the Arabian Gulf: Benefits, risks and best-practice recommendations for practitioners and decision-makers." This initiative is part of their ongoing commitment to sustainable development. The report stems from a three-year coral conservation project with New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), focusing on global coral relocation case studies to create best practices suited for the Arabian Gulf.
Coral reefs are among the most biologically diverse habitats in the UAE. AD Ports Group is dedicated to protecting and safely relocating corals when needed. This effort aims to preserve Abu Dhabi’s unique maritime environment. The report outlines best practices for planning, executing, and monitoring coral relocation programmes, which will be crucial for conserving corals across the Arabian Gulf.

Eiman Al Khalaqi, Senior Vice President of Innovation at AD Ports Group, stated, "We are pleased to issue this invaluable coral relocation report, in line with our efforts to achieve our country’s aspirations of being an environmental and climate action world leader by 2071. This report is a testament to our dedication to integrating sustainable practices into coastal development. We are committed to safeguarding these vital ecosystems and leaving a positive impact on our environment for future generations."
The collaboration between AD Ports Group and NYU Abu Dhabi has been instrumental in producing this report. Dr. John Burt, Professor of Biology at NYU Abu Dhabi, emphasised that the findings result from three years of detailed research and cooperation. The programme has provided significant insights that will serve as a crucial reference for future environmental projects.
Dr. Burt further remarked on the importance of partnerships between academia and industry in advancing sustainability efforts. He said, "Our collaboration with AD Ports Group and the publishing of this invaluable report is another example of the importance of academic and industry partnerships for the advancement of sustainability and environmental practices. We’re delighted to be part of a project which will have such a positive effect on our local and regional communities."
This initiative underscores the significance of protecting marine ecosystems while supporting sustainable coastal development. By sharing these best practices, AD Ports Group aims to enhance coral conservation efforts throughout the region.
