The agreement was signed by Ghannam Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of Nafis, and Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice President of the UAE Gender Balance Council. Ghannam Al Mazrouei emphasised the importance of promoting gender diversity within leadership positions in the private sector. He noted that this partnership with the UAE Gender Balance Council aligns with key objectives of Emiratisation efforts. "We are proud of this partnership, which aims to promote gender diversity and empower women in leadership positions," he stated.

Mona Al Marri thanked Nafis for supporting the council's goals related to enhancing women's participation in leadership roles. She highlighted that this agreement will help launch initiatives under the "SDG 5 Pledge to Accelerate Gender Balance in the UAE Private Sector" initiative. This includes recognising organisations excelling in gender balance through the 'Nafis Award'.

The UAE Gender Balance Council is committed to initiatives like the "SDG 5 Pledge," developed two years ago with the Private Sector Advisory Council. Many national and international organisations have joined this initiative, committing to increase women's representation in senior management roles to at least 30% by 2025.

The council plans to intensify efforts to boost female participation in leadership programmes by collaborating with various organisations. This supports Sustainable Development Goal 5 and raises awareness about gender balance within the private sector.

Joint Efforts for Sustainable Development

H.H. Sheikha Manal praised Nafis' achievements over three years in enhancing Emirati human resources' performance and encouraging their involvement in diverse fields within the private sector. The agreement is expected to further these efforts, especially regarding women's roles as vital contributors to the national economy.

The unique partnership between government and private sectors, based on transparency and shared vision, is crucial for formulating effective policies. The UAE Gender Balance Council remains committed to this approach through its initiatives.

Evaluating Achievements and Future Plans

The UAE Gender Balance Council recently held its fourth meeting for 2024 alongside government annual meetings. Chaired by Mona Al Marri, it assessed achievements from previous quarters and discussed future initiatives aimed at promoting gender balance across all sectors.

This meeting also focused on enhancing global partnerships while evaluating ongoing projects designed to advance gender equality throughout various industries within the UAE.

The cooperation agreement will spotlight companies contributing significantly towards empowering Emirati women while showcasing their accomplishments within private sectors as catalysts for sustainable economic development.
