CISM International Symposium 2025 In Abu Dhabi To Address Military Readiness And Resilience Challenges
The CISM International Scientific Symposium, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, will commence on 20 October in Abu Dhabi. This event gathers military officials, experts, and researchers worldwide. It is the first time the symposium is held in the UAE and the Middle East, focusing on "Physical Readiness and Resilience in the Armed Forces: Challenges and Foreseeing the Future."
Taking place from 20 to 22 October 2025 at Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi, the symposium will host over 130 participants from 35 member states. More than 43 speakers will present scientific papers on physical readiness and resilience in armed forces. The event is a significant platform for sharing expertise and fostering international collaboration in military training.

Brigadier General S. Ayoob Al Falasi highlighted the UAE's active role since joining CISM in 1974. The nation supports military sports through national universities and researchers contributing to the symposium's discussions. This involvement underscores the UAE's commitment to international cooperation in military sports.
The symposium is second only to the Military World Games on CISM’s calendar. It attracts prominent figures like CISM President, Vice Presidents, Board members, Secretary General, and national delegation heads. Their presence reaffirms the UAE’s global reputation and leadership.
The scientific programme includes keynote lectures, sessions, and workshops by global experts. Key themes cover sports medicine, combat sports, technology, and climate change. These sessions aim to showcase research and practical applications that enhance armed forces' efficiency and readiness.
Major General Obaid Ali Al Mansoori stated: "Hosting this global event reflects the vision of our wise leadership to position the UAE as a leading destination for major international gatherings and underscores the deep global confidence in the nation’s standing."
Strategic Importance of Hosting
The UAE hosting this prestigious event highlights its leadership as a hub for international events. The Ministry of Defence's successful bid was approved by CISM's General Assembly in Moscow in 2023. This reflects confidence in the UAE’s organizational capabilities and infrastructure.
Colonel Nilton Gomes Filho praised the Ministry of Defence for organizing the symposium efficiently. He commended the UAE's hospitality and ability to manage major international events with high readiness levels.
Building Bridges Through Sport
The symposium also serves as a platform for defence diplomacy, promoting peace through sport. Military sport fosters dialogue and strengthens international cooperation by bringing nations closer together.
"The Ministry of Defence continues to demonstrate pioneering expertise in organizing world-class initiatives across the defence sector," added Major General Obaid Ali Al Mansoori. He emphasized that sport acts as a bridge for peace aligning with UAE’s commitment to stability worldwide.
This gathering not only advances scientific research but also strengthens UAE’s role as a hub for military sports collaboration globally. It marks a strategic step towards enhancing its position internationally while fostering cooperation among nations.
