CBUAE Issues Commemorative Coins To Honour Sheikh Zayed And Sheikh Rashid's Legacy
The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE) has released special gold and silver coins to commemorate the "Zayed and Rashid" campaign. This initiative honours the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, recognising their pivotal roles in establishing the Union. It aims to strengthen national identity and loyalty within the community.
The gold coin weighs 40 grams and measures 40 mm in diameter. Its obverse side displays images of "Zayed and Rashid." The reverse features the national emblem, encircled by "Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates" in both Arabic and English. This coin is exclusively available at the Central Bank's headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
In contrast, the silver coin weighs 50 grams with a diameter of 50 mm. Like its gold counterpart, it also showcases "Zayed and Rashid" on its obverse. The reverse includes the national emblem, surrounded by the bank's name in both languages, along with "Commemorative Coin" in Arabic. Purchases can be made through the Central Bank's website.
Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of CBUAE, expressed pride in these coins' issuance. He stated, "We proudly announce the issuance of these commemorative coins, which embody the meanings of loyalty and belonging to the national legacy left by the founding leaders, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum."
The governor further highlighted that this release is part of the Zayed and Rashid campaign. It seeks to reinforce unity and development values foundational to their nation while spotlighting key milestones from their leadership journeys.
This initiative underscores a commitment to preserving national history for future generations. By celebrating these leaders' contributions, it aims to instil a sense of pride and continuity among citizens.
