CBUAE Issues Commemorative Coins To Celebrate Al Nasr Sports Club's 80th Anniversary

The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE) has partnered with Al Nasr Sports Club to release commemorative silver coins. These coins celebrate the 80th anniversary of Al Nasr Sports Club, a key player in UAE sports. This initiative honours the club's contributions to sports and national identity over eight decades.

A total of 1,000 silver coins have been produced, each weighing 40 grammes. The design reflects the club's heritage and symbolism. On one side, the coin displays the Al Nasr Sports Club logo, along with "Dubai 1945," marking its founding year and location. The opposite side features "80 Dirhams" as its nominal value and includes the phrase "80th Anniversary of Establishment of Al Nasr Sports Club." Surrounding this are inscriptions in both Arabic and English, stating "Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates" and "Commemorative Coin."

These coins have been handed over to Al Nasr Sports Club directly. They will not be available for purchase at any CBUAE branches or headquarters. This decision ensures that the coins remain exclusive to commemorate this special occasion.

Saif Humaid Aldhaheri, Assistant Governor for Banking Operations and Support Services at CBUAE, stated, "The issuance of this coin reflects our keenness to mark important national events that contribute to fostering cultural and sporting awareness, and to highlight the achievements of national institutions at both local and global levels. Al Nasr Sports Club represents a sporting edifice that combines history with future ambition."

Engineer Marwan bin Ghalita, Chairman of Al Nasr Sports Club's Board of Directors, expressed pride in their legacy: "Al Nasr Club is proud of its history and its pioneering role as the first club to lay the foundation for the sports movement in the UAE, celebrating eighty years of giving and achievements. The CBUAE’s issuance of the coin commemorates this legacy and consolidates the club’s position in national sports. We consider this day a historic milestone to be proud of, and we thank the CBUAE for highlighting this glory, affirming our commitment to continue the journey of development and successes to serve Emirati sports."

This collaboration between CBUAE and Al Nasr Sports Club highlights a significant moment in UAE sports history. It acknowledges past achievements while looking forward to future contributions in enhancing Emirati sports culture.
