UAE's Central Bank Gold Reserves Surge By 19.7% Year-on-Year In May 2024

The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) reported that its gold reserves reached Dh20.619 billion by the end of May 2024. This represents a 19.7 percent increase compared to Dh17.219 billion in May 2023.

According to the Monthly Statistical Bulletin - Banking & Monetary Statistics for May 2024, released on Monday, the CBUAE's gold reserves also saw a monthly rise of 1.3 percent from Dh20.36 billion in April 2024, according to WAM reports.

The UAE's gold reserves have shown remarkable growth over recent years. By the end of 2020, reserves had surged to Dh12.862 billion, up from Dh4.44 billion at the close of 2019 and AED1.134 billion in 2018.

This consistent increase highlights the strategic importance placed on gold by the UAE's central bank as part of its monetary policy and financial stability measures.

The steady rise in gold reserves underscores the UAE's commitment to diversifying its assets and strengthening its economic resilience against global financial fluctuations.
