CBUAE's Balance Sheet Hits Historic $215 Billion In April, Growing 25% Over The Year

The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) reported a record balance sheet of Dh789.82 billion ($215 billion) by April 2024, marking a 25 percent increase from Dh631.63 billion in April 2023. This is the first time in its history that the balance sheet has reached such a high figure.

In just one month, from March to April 2024, the balance sheet grew by 2.4 percent, or Dh18.6 billion, rising from Dh771.23 billion. The first four months of 2024 saw an increase of 9.6 percent, equivalent to Dh68.9 billion, compared to Dh720.9 billion at the end of December 2023.

Asset Allocations

According to the CBUAE's report, cash and bank balances accounted for Dh362.66 billion of the total assets in April 2024. Investments were valued at approximately Dh214.3 billion, while deposits stood at Dh174.16 billion. Loans and advances amounted to Dh1.73 billion, and other assets were recorded at Dh36.96 billion.

On the liabilities and capital side, current and deposit accounts made up Dh343.26 billion of the balance sheet. Monetary bills and Islamic certificates of deposit were around Dh259.92 billion, with issued banknotes and coins totaling Dh146.79 billion.

Liabilities Breakdown

The report also detailed that capital and reserves were valued at Dh24.75 billion as part of the liabilities and capital section of the balance sheet. Other liabilities amounted to Dh15.1 billion.

This significant growth in the CBUAE's balance sheet reflects robust financial management and economic stability within the UAE.
