Careem Pay Debuts International Remittance Service To The UK For UAE Users
Careem Pay, the digital wallet and fintech arm of the Careem Everything App, has broadened its international remittance offerings by introducing a 'F Payments' service to the UK for UAE residents. This comes as a significant forward in facilitating quicker and more efficient cross-border transactions, reinforcing the platform's commitment to enhancing financial services accessibility across the region.
The service allows UAE residents to send money swiftly to UK bank accounts using the recipient's bank account number and sort code, or the IBAN. This development is set to impact positively the substantial British expatriate community in the UAE, estimated at around 240,000 individuals. With competitive foreign exchange rates, Careem Pay users can now transfer up to Dh45,000 in a single transaction and a maximum of Dh135,000 per month.
Mohammad El Saadi, VP of Careem Pay, expressed his enthusiasm for the expansion, stating, "Careem Pay's purpose is to simplify and increase access to financial services for people across the region." He highlighted the success of the platform's remittance services to Pakistan and India, which have significantly benefited customers and Captains in the UAE, enabling them to send money back home within minutes. The extension of these services to the UK aims to cater to another significant segment of the UAE population, facilitating near-instant money transfers.
The new UK remittance service is poised to be a crucial resource for those making regular transfers to the UK, whether for supporting families, making mortgage payments, or contributing to personal investments. This development is particularly timely, considering the UK received over $2.9 billion from the UAE in less than a year.
Careem Pay's international remittance services to India and Pakistan have already seen substantial adoption. One standout instance from 2023 saw a customer sending $93,217 to Pakistan, showcasing the high level of trust and reliance on Careem Pay for significant financial transactions. This expansion into the UK market is expected to further cement Careem Pay's position as a key player in the fintech space, providing vital financial services to a broader audience.
As the fintech landscape continues to evolve, Careem Pay's strategic expansion into international remittance services underscores the growing demand for more inclusive, efficient, and accessible financial services. By enabling seamless transactions across borders, Careem Pay not only enhances the financial well-being of its users but also contributes to strengthening the economic ties between the UAE and the UK.
