Calidus Launches AlDeraa: A New Short Range Air Defence System For Modern Threats
The Calidus Holding Group has introduced AlDeraa, a new short-range air defence system. This system is developed to tackle modern aerial threats like drones and loitering munitions. The project highlights the Group's dedication to providing tactical solutions that improve readiness in current battlefields.
AlDeraa is crafted with an operational philosophy prioritising rapid response and reliability. It can be swiftly deployed on both fixed and mobile platforms, adapting to user needs and various operational settings. The system integrates modularly with Command and Control (C2) and Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) systems, enhancing its effectiveness.

This system incorporates advanced sensors along with soft-kill and hard-kill options. It is designed using innovative technologies to counter asymmetric threats, especially low-cost drones and loitering munitions. These features redefine short-range air defence by improving detection of low-signature threats and enhancing target classification accuracy.
Dr. Khalifa Murad Alblooshi, Managing Director and CEO of Calidus Holding Group, stated that the project addresses the growing threat of drones and loitering munitions. "We have ensured that the system is tactical, rapidly deployable, logistically lightweight, customisable, and integrable with users’ command and control systems, meeting their urgent operational requirements in modern battlefields."
The AlDeraa system provides a protective shield around vital assets against swarms of drones. Its capabilities allow users to execute effective responses within critical timeframes. This ensures protection for ground formations from aerial threats.
Ahmed Rashed AlZaabi, Head of Missiles and Defence Systems at Calidus Holding Group, explained that AlDeraa embodies a comprehensive operational philosophy. It covers early detection through neutralisation of threats with high capability against drone swarms.
User-Centric Development
The development of this new system began recently based on end-user requirements in real-world environments. This aligns with the Group’s strategy to enhance manufacturing capabilities while delivering tailored air defence solutions for evolving aerial threats.
AlZaabi noted that the system offers reliable responses even in complex operational environments. Its modular integration into multi-layered air defence networks further strengthens its utility.
This initiative by Calidus reflects their commitment to addressing contemporary security challenges effectively through innovation in defence technology.
