Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva Visits INTERPOL Headquarters And Praises Its Leadership Role

The Brazilian President was warmly received by INTERPOL President Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi. During the visit, President Lula was informed about INTERPOL's vital role in aiding member countries to safeguard vulnerable communities, protect the environment, and dismantle organised crime networks. This engagement signifies strong backing for INTERPOL's mission and its pivotal role in addressing pressing global security challenges.

A significant outcome of this state visit was the signing of a Letter of Intent between Brazil and INTERPOL. This agreement aims to enhance information sharing, expertise exchange, and best practices in combating crime. It further solidifies Brazil's leadership position in fighting various forms of crime on both national and international levels.

President Lula commended INTERPOL for its crucial contribution to collective security. He noted that with over 100 years of history and 196 member countries, INTERPOL is an essential platform for global security collaboration. He also reiterated Brazil’s commitment to strengthening ties with multilateral security agencies, recognising Brazil’s role as a key power in Latin America.

Major General Al-Raisi expressed appreciation for Brazil’s efforts against organised crime in the region. He highlighted INTERPOL’s goal to expand partnerships with nations possessing advanced policing capabilities, aiming to boost regional and global stability. The visit is seen as a milestone in international security cooperation.

In recognition of his significant contributions to fighting crime at various levels, Major General Al-Raisi awarded President Lula the INTERPOL Medal of the Highest Order.
