Brazil Strengthens Agricultural Ties With UAE Through Strategic Trade Mission And Agribusiness Showcase

A delegation from Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock is visiting the UAE to enhance trade ties and highlight Brazil's agribusiness potential. Led by Vice-Minister Irajá Rezende de Lacerda, the group includes key officials like Luís Renato de Alcântara Rua, Carlos Goulart, and Fernando Magalhães Soares Pinto. This visit underscores Brazil's commitment to being a dependable partner in food security for the UAE.

Brazilian exports to the UAE have surged by 45.52% from 2023 to 2024, highlighting the growing trade relationship. Major exports include meat, sugar, ethanol, forest products, coffee, and tobacco. The mission also seeks to explore new opportunities in tropical fruit exports, which are becoming more popular in the UAE market.

Brazil and UAE Enhance Agricultural Trade Relations

Sustainability is a key focus for Brazil as it prepares to host COP30 in Belém later this year. The country aims to build on discussions from COP28 in Dubai and share best practices that enhance productivity while minimising environmental impact. "The UAE already trusts Brazil as a key supplier," Rua highlighted.

The delegation will participate in Gulfood 2025 in Dubai, engage with Emirati authorities, and visit agro-industrial facilities. At Gulfood 2025, Brazil will showcase its agribusiness strength through traditional exports like beef and poultry as well as organic products such as açaí, mango, and Brazil nuts.

Food security remains a priority for the UAE, making Brazil an essential partner in ensuring a stable food supply. "Brazilian agribusiness is built on hard work and innovation," Rua stated. The mission aims to bridge partnerships further and deepen existing ones.

Beyond trade discussions, the delegation is addressing sanitary and phytosanitary regulations to facilitate easier exports. "The UAE’s interest in Brazil is growing steadily," Rua said. This reflects Brazil's credibility as a reliable supplier ready to grow alongside the UAE.

The UAE ranks as the sixth-largest importer of Brazilian agricultural products in 2024. This mission highlights the importance of reinforcing Brazil’s role as a strategic partner for the UAE. The delegation seeks not only to sell products but also to build lasting relationships based on trust and innovation.

In statements to Emirates News Agency (WAM), Rua emphasised that their goal is to reinforce their role as a strategic partner for the UAE. "More than just selling products, we want to build lasting relationships based on trust," Rua stated.
