Borouge Launches First Made-in-UAE Healthcare LDPE Solution
Borouge Plc has introduced the first low-density polyethylene (LDPE) made in the UAE for healthcare uses at ADIPEC. This follows their earlier release of a locally produced healthcare polypropylene product this year.
The new LDPE, Bormed™ LE6607-PH, is manufactured at Borouge's Ruwais facility and aims to enhance regional medical supply chains by enabling local production of essential sterile pharmaceutical packaging.

The introduction of Bormed™ LE6607-PH highlights Borouge's dedication to industrial self-sufficiency and aligns with the Make it in the Emirates initiative. This national programme focuses on boosting industrial growth and economic diversification.
By expanding its influence in value-added sectors across the Middle East and Asia, Borouge aims to fortify the UAE's healthcare supply chain resilience.
"This launch positions Borouge at the forefront of healthcare-grade production in the UAE, strengthening our leadership across the region. By streamlining access to high-quality medical materials, we are proactively advancing our healthcare portfolio with locally manufactured polymers that meet international standards," said Hazeem Sultan Al Suwaidi, Chief Executive Officer of Borouge.
Al Suwaidi further stated that this strategic initiative supports various applications like pharmaceutical manufacturing and patient care. It also underscores Borouge's commitment to innovation and regional expansion. The company leverages Borealis' established Bormed™ technology, known for its dedication to the healthcare sector.
Bormed™ LE6607-PH is an additive-free LDPE designed for pharmaceutical and medical packaging such as blow-fill-seal bottles and ampoules. It is optimised for purity, compliance, and stability, reducing extractables and leachables in final products while ensuring compatibility with aseptic processing standards.
The new grade complies with stringent specifications set by both EU and US Pharmacopoeia. By producing this grade in the UAE, Borouge not only enhances supply chain agility but also ensures consistent quality standards and reliable supply continuity. These benefits help healthcare manufacturers manage risks better, reduce lead times, and ensure patient safety.
This launch builds on Borouge's earlier success with Bormed™ RG868MO, their first UAE-made healthcare product introduced this year. Together, these products expand Borouge's healthcare portfolio further, reinforcing its role as a strategic enabler of medical innovation and national industrial capacity.
Borouge's locally produced polymer contributes to safer patient care while supporting industrial diversification. It strengthens the UAE's position as a hub for high-quality medical manufacturing by providing consistent quality standards and reliable supply continuity.
