During the 43rd Sharjah International Book Fair, Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi led the Sharjah Book Authority's board meeting. The discussions focused on strategic initiatives to boost global influence and partnerships for Emirati publishers. Progress on recent initiatives was also reviewed.

The board examined SBA's strategic pillars from previous sessions and celebrated achievements like the Booksellers Conference and the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival. These events highlight Sharjah’s significant role in international book fairs.

SBA Meeting Focuses on Digital Transformation

Sheikha Bodour expressed gratitude for H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi's guidance, which supports SBA’s mission of international engagement through cultural diplomacy. A notable achievement is the Arab Cultural Institute in Milan, aimed at connecting Arab culture globally.

SBA plans to establish similar institutes in key cities worldwide to promote cross-cultural understanding and collaboration. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to enhance global cultural connections.

Digital transformation remains a priority for SBA, as highlighted by Sheikha Bodour. "Digital advancements are essential to amplifying the reach and impact of SIBF and SBA’s wider initiatives," she stated, underscoring technology's role in advancing their mission.

The board discussed enhancing the SIBF Awards' appeal globally and launching a specialised publishing programme. This programme aims to develop international expertise among Emirati publishers, strengthening Sharjah’s position as a cultural hub.

Future Plans and Initiatives

Looking forward, SBA aims to empower the next generation of Emirati publishers through these initiatives. By building skills and expertise, they seek to elevate Sharjah’s status on the global cultural stage.

The board remains committed to innovation and progress, ensuring that SBA continues to thrive as a leader in cultural diplomacy and publishing excellence.
