Big 5 Global Summit To Launch In Dubai On November 26 With Focus On Urban Development And Sustainability

Big 5 Global, alongside LiveableCitiesX, GeoWorld, and Future FM, is set to host five strategic summits from 26 to 29 November. These events will gather 1,500 leaders from both government and private sectors to discuss the future of urban communities. The aim is to address challenges faced by cities globally, such as overcrowding and aging infrastructure.

The MEASA region's urban construction sector is thriving, with $6.75 trillion in ongoing projects. National visions like UAE Vision 2031 are pivotal in driving urban development and economic diversification. Big 5 Global Leaders’ Summit and LiveableCitiesX Summit will convene global leaders to discuss innovation, sustainability, and the future of urban development.

Big 5 Global Summit Launches in Dubai

Josine Heijmans, Senior Vice President at dmg events, stated: "As cities in the Global South face challenges like overcrowding and resource optimization, the Global North faces the complexities of aging populations and infrastructure, all which require immediate action. This calls for governments, national vision initiatives and the construction sector to work together and build liveable cities of tomorrow."

The summits will feature prominent speakers from the UAE including Maysarah Eid from Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre; Dr. Saif Al Nasri from the Department of Municipalities and Transport; Gurjit Singh of Aldar Properties; and Saeed Mohammed Al Qatami of Deyaar Developments. These speakers will share insights on public-private collaboration in sustainable construction.

Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, UAE's Minister of Energy & Infrastructure, highlighted: "Our commitment extends beyond dialogue to tangible actions, exemplified by our commitment to adopting global innovative solutions to improve the quality of life of the society."

Global Perspectives

For the first time in MEASA, renowned international speakers will join these summits. Robert Beugré Mambé, Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire, will deliver a keynote at LiveableCitiesX Summit. He remarked: "The future of our nations lies in building cities that are resilient and liveable... I am honoured to participate in the LiveableCitiesX Summit."

Fred Mills from The B1M emphasized construction's role in city development: "From pioneering energy projects to transformative urban regeneration... construction is at the heart of progress." His keynote at Big 5 Global Leaders’ Summit will explore how construction can innovate future projects.

Other notable speakers include Lord Udny-Lister from the UK-UAE Business Council; Sandro Alex Cruz de Oliveira from Brazil's Infrastructure Secretariat; Lufuno Ratsiku from South Africa’s Project Management Professions Council; and Prof. Carlos Moreno from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.

These summits aim to foster discussions on sustainable urban planning and infrastructure development for a thriving future.
