Libya's National Carrier Berniq Airways Boosts Fleet With Airbus A320Neo Aircraft

Berniq Airways, Libya's national airline, has confirmed an order with Airbus for six A320neo Family aircraft. This addition aims to enhance the airline's regional and international route offerings. Currently, Berniq Airways operates a fleet of six A320s.

Waseem Ezzway, Chairman of Berniq Airways, stated, "We are proud to be the first in Libya to order the advanced A320 Family aircraft. This significant investment marks a new chapter for Berniq Airways as we continue to lead the way in modernizing our fleet and enhancing our service offerings."

The A320 Family is renowned globally as the most popular single-aisle aircraft, with over 18,000 orders from more than 300 customers worldwide. The A321neo, a member of this family, offers exceptional range and performance. It incorporates new generation engines and Sharklets, which contribute to a 50% noise reduction and at least 20% fuel savings and CO₂ reduction compared to previous generation single-aisle aircraft.

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business at Airbus, commented on the deal: "It is a pleasure to see Berniq Airways expanding its fleet with the world's best-in-class single-aisle aircraft. The A320neo family will enable Berniq Airways to provide its customers with unparalleled comfort while offering the airline exceptional economic advantages."

The entire A320 Family is already capable of operating with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus aims for its aircraft to be fully SAF capable by 2030. This initiative aligns with global efforts to reduce aviation's environmental impact.

The addition of these new aircraft will support Berniq Airways' goal of modernising its fleet while improving service quality. The advanced features of the A320neo Family will also help in achieving better operational efficiency and passenger comfort.

This order marks an important milestone for Berniq Airways as it becomes the first Libyan airline to incorporate such advanced technology into its fleet. The move is anticipated to set a precedent for other airlines in the region.
