Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club Wins Third Round Of Khaled Bin Mohamed Championship In Abu Dhabi

Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club emerged victorious at the third round of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship – Gi Kids. The event concluded on Sunday at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi. Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club took second place, while Al Jazira Jiu-Jitsu Club secured third. Families and jiu-jitsu enthusiasts attended in large numbers, creating a lively atmosphere and reinforcing community bonds.

The championship attracted numerous dignitaries who attended the competitions and awarded the winners. Among them were Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Alhashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; and Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation. Other notable attendees included Salem Saeed Al Saeedi from Rabdan Academy and Dr. Yasir Ahmed Al Naqbi from the Department of Government Empowerment.

Baniyas Wins Khaled bin Mohamed Championship

Yousef Abdullah Al Batran highlighted that the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship aligns with leadership's vision to support sports and empower future generations. "The continued support of the wise leadership for jiu-jitsu reflects its belief in the sport’s importance in promoting physical and mental well-being and instilling noble values," he stated. This support is crucial for fostering a society where sports contribute to sustainable development.

Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan commended the event's organisation and participation levels, noting jiu-jitsu's rising popularity in the UAE. He emphasised its benefits for physical fitness and education, as well as its role in teaching discipline, determination, and resilience to athletes.

Zayed Dorazahi from UAEJJ ARENA celebrated his gold medal win in the Kids Boys / Kids 3 / White / 24kg – H division. He expressed joy over his achievement: "I’m very happy to win the gold medal. I trained hard with my coach and teammates and put in a lot of effort to prepare." He began practising jiu-jitsu four years ago alongside his siblings Khalid and Maya.

The championship continues to thrive, with its fourth round set for June. Interest in jiu-jitsu is growing as it becomes an integral part of local sports culture.
