Transforming Hospitality: Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel and AirOWater's Green Initiative

In a groundbreaking move towards environmental sustainability, the Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel has unveiled a novel project in collaboration with AirOWater Global, introducing the first-ever sustainable water bottling plant in the region. This facility stands out for its innovative approach to producing water directly from air, marking a significant step towards meeting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The initiative notably addresses key environmental issues including water logistics, security, and the promotion of a plastic-free environment, setting a new standard for sustainable practices within the hospitality sector.

The unveiling ceremony of this pioneering project saw the attendance of notable dignitaries, including His Highness Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Department of Tourism Development, and His Excellency Mahmood Khaleel Ahmed Alsayed Alhashmi, Director General of Ajman Department of Tourism Development. Also present were His Excellency Sheikh Salem Bin Faisal Al Qassimi and His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Bin Faisal Al Qassimi, both Vice Chairmen of Faisal Holding LLC.

Sustainable Water Bottling Plant Launched in Ajman

Iftikhar Hamdani, the Area General Manager of Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel, shared his enthusiasm about leading such a transformative initiative. "We are proud to launch this sustainable initiative with this bottling plant, which promotes the concept of plastic-free reusable glass bottles. This initiative not only reduces plastic waste in landfills but also leverages an untapped resource – water from air. We believe this solution is a game-changer and will inspire other hotels to adopt similar sustainable practices," Hamdani remarked. This sentiment underscores the hotel's commitment to reducing plastic waste and exploring innovative resource management solutions.

A Leap Towards Sustainability

Shubhojit Mahalanobis, Co-Founder and Partner at AirOWater Global, expressed excitement over the collaboration. "We are thrilled to collaborate with Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel and commend their unwavering commitment to sustainability. Our water-from-air technology and reusable glass bottle model have empowered the hotel to go plastic-free while boosting their ESG credentials. We look forward to strengthening our partnership and exploring new opportunities in the Northern Emirates." This partnership signifies a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and showcases the feasibility of innovative solutions in addressing ecological challenges.

The cutting-edge bottling plant is capable of producing a remarkable 365,000 liters of pure drinking water annually by extracting moisture from the atmosphere. This technology not only negates the need for plastic bottles, thereby supporting a plastic-free environment, but also ensures that the hotel can meet 100% of its water needs sustainably. Guests at the hotel benefit from this eco-friendly initiative, enjoying pure water in rooms, dining areas, and leisure zones without the environmental cost associated with plastic bottles.

Reducing Carbon Footprint and Encouraging Recycling

By replacing plastic bottles with water sourced from air, the hotel significantly reduces its carbon footprint by approximately 33.58 metric tons of CO₂e each year. This achievement aligns with the UAE's Net Zero Vision, as it cuts down on plastic production, minimizes long-distance transport requirements, and reduces landfill waste. Beyond just providing a renewable source of water, the initiative advocates for the reuse of glass bottles and recycling of broken glass, thereby promoting a circular economy and underscoring the hotel's dedication to sustainability.

Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel is pioneering a shift towards luxury and sustainability coexisting in harmony. By implementing this water-from-air technology and emphasizing the reusability of resources, the hotel is not only ensuring water security but also championing ecological consciousness in the UAE's hospitality industry. This initiative serves as a model for other hotels and industries, demonstrating the viability of adopting sustainable practices that support both the environment and business objectives.
