Baba Sultan Healthy Food Ambassadors Programme Launched To Promote Healthy Eating In Sharjah Schools

The Sharjah Department of Agriculture and Livestock (SDAL), in partnership with the Sharjah Private Education Authority, has introduced the "Baba Sultan Healthy Food Ambassadors" programme. This initiative seeks to encourage healthy eating habits and increase awareness about the significance of a nutritious diet among community members and school students.

Dr. Engineer Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, head of SDAL, highlighted the programme's alignment with Sharjah's sustainable food security strategy. He stated, "This programmeme aligns with Sharjah's sustainable food security strategy and fulfils the vision of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who considers health as the essence of human life and the foundation of development. We are committed to expanding this programme across the emirate in line with His Highness’s focus on the well-being of his people and the provision of all means necessary for a dignified life for the community."

Launch of Baba Sultan Healthy Food Programme

The initiative is part of SDAL's ongoing efforts to foster positive behaviours that support healthy eating by promoting safe organic food choices and creating environments conducive to nutritious options. The launch event was attended by key figures including Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chairperson of SPEA, Ali Al Hosani, Director of SPEA, along with several department heads from both organisations.

Dr. Al Tunaiji emphasized that enhancing human health through balanced diets is crucial for societal development. He mentioned that schools in Sharjah serve as models for implementing this programme, aiming to create a preventive environment that boosts student health and well-being.

Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi noted that this programme is pivotal in raising health awareness among students, equipping them with healthy habits and empowering them to make informed dietary choices. She remarked, "This programme reaffirms our commitment at the Sharjah Private Education Authority to H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi’s vision, which places the health and well-being of our children at the top of our priorities. Through this initiative, we strive to build a school environment that reinforces sustainable healthy living principles."

The first phase involves 21 students participating in activities designed to promote awareness about healthy habits and balanced nutrition among peers. These activities also provide insights into sustainable dietary systems, contributing to nurturing a healthier future generation.

This initiative supports nutritional awareness in schools across Sharjah, ensuring a sustainable healthy lifestyle remains a priority in local projects. By focusing on education and practical engagement, it aims to enhance understanding among students about contributing positively to Sustainable Development Goals.
